Employees at The Arc of Montgomery, Berks & Bucks Counties help support and complement efforts of the organization to develop resources, provide services and serve as advocates for people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. The Arc employees participate in meaningful, challenging and satisfying experiences. 
    

Independent Contractors with pediatric experience are also needed to provide Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nutrition services (please see descriptions/qualifications listed below, independent contractors do not receive employee benefits).  We are looking for Independent Contractors to serve children age birth to 3 years with developmental disabilities and their families in their home or community setting.  We could use your help in the following counties: Berks, Chester, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties.  If interested please email your resume to HR@marcpa.org.

Physical Therapist

Description:  The physical therapist is responsible for planning and conducting a developmental program to assist individuals in developing basic functional skills through participation in activities to retain or strengthen existing skills and to determine current skill level.  Administers medically prescribed treatment to children by application of accepted modalities such as massage, therapeutic exercises, mechanical devices such as parallel bars, walking ramps, etc.

Qualifications:  Minimum one year experience in pediatric physical therapy with bachelor degree in physical therapy including or supplemented by courses in neurological development.  A current license is required.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Description:  This is professional work in the field of speech and language.  An employee in this class provides treatment and research in the field of auditory and speech and language delays or disabilities. Work involves the application of principles, methodology, and technical skills employed in the treatment of persons having delayed and/or disordered speech and language abilities.  Work is performed under the general direction of a professional or administrative supervisor, and who outlines scope and content of programs and reviews work through conferences and reports.

Qualifications:  Completion of all requirements for a master’s degree, excluding a thesis, in the field of speech language pathology.  PA license and CCC or CFY qualifications.  Considerable knowledge of approved principles, methods, techniques, and procedures used in individual and group treatment of speech and audiological disabilities.  Considerable knowledge of anatomy and physiology as related to speech and hearing disabilities.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, their families, professional staff, and other colleagues.  Ability to elicit and summarize in report form, case information from patients, medical reports and other services.  Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Occupational Therapist

Description:  Child-directed and child-centered activities is the primary focus of the program implementation.  A variety of treatment modalities and/or techniques may also be utilized to promote such development.  The modalities are, but not limited to, positioning and handling, sensory processing, facilitation and inhibition, muscle strengthening, etc.  These are utilized to promote visual perceptual motor skills, play skills, strength, endurance, coordination, sensory motor integration, self-help, increased awareness of and ability to cope with one’s surroundings and interpersonal relationships.  The OT is a part of the child’s IFSP team.  He/She works along with all of the team members to implement the IFSP.

Qualifications:  One year of experience in pediatric occupational therapy with bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy including or supplemented by courses in neurological development.  A master’s degree or post baccalaureate.  Certificate in occupational therapy may be substituted for the required experience.

Special Education Teacher

Description:  Under the direction of the program coordinator, performs all assigned duties which contribute to the overall objectives of the program and to the general welfare, training and safety of the students.

Qualifications:  Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in early intervention, early childhood special education, child development, special education or family studies, and one year full-time or full-time equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families or a university/college-supervised student practicum or teaching experience with young children with disabilities and their families.
